equality, diversity and inclusion

promoting equality, diversity and inclusion

We champion equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across Irwell Valley Homes and believe that everyone has the right to be treated equality, with dignity and respect.

We have adopted the Chartered Institute of Housing EDI charter and made EDI one of our key corporate objectives.

We carry out Equality Impact Assessments to ensure our services, projects and policies are accessible to everyone, and have an EDI framework that looks to remove barriers and positively promote equal opportunities in relation to the following:

  • Our governance
  • The provision of housing and services
  • Recruitment, employment and training
  • Housing management, development and contractor provision

To ensure EDI is embedded across the organisation, we also have an EDI group which is made up of colleague champions. They are responsible for:

  • Setting the strategic equality, diversity and inclusion objectives
  • Ensuring that we comply with the relevant legislation
  • Adopting good practice
  • Monitoring performance in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion

We are also leading on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion on behalf of Greater Manchester Housing Providers.

tailored services and support

We recognise that everyone is different and look to provide homes, services and support that are tailored around our customers individual needs.

To do this we carry out annual tenancy visits to get to know our customers and understand what they need from us. During these visits we collect information about our customer's faith, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, age and gender. As well as making sure that we provide the right services to help customers live well in their home, this information also helps us to monitor how well we are promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
