Spirit of Salford  

Spirit of Salford has been established by local organisations to provide support for the most vulnerable people in the area.

It can support people who do not have any other way of sourcing food and medical supplies. They are also helping vulnerable residents to access hardship grants.

Please only contact the hub if you require help accessing food or medical supplies and have no other means of doing this.

Salford Citizens Advice

Salford Citizens Advice provide free, confidential and impartial advice to residents of Salford. You can go to them with all sorts of issues such as if you have money, benefit, housing or employment issues.

All of their face to face services are now closed to the public but they have allocated more staff to email and telephone advice.

They are available via telephone Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm or via email 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These services provide the same level of support as their face to face services.

Council Tax Support

You can submit an application for Council Tax council tax support / reduction online which is a benefit in place to help those on low income/benefits cover their council tax bill.

Salford Assist

Salford Assist is a Salford City Council scheme that can offer short term support to people who are in a crisis, emergency or major disaster situation.

They can help with essential items such as:

  • referral for baby milk, nappies or food for your baby and your family
  • essential furniture items
  • help with emergency supply for gas or electric where there is no heating in the household
  • advice and referrals to another service, agency or fund
  • council tax support
  • copies of birth certificates for homeless people

St James Church Higher Broughton Food Pantry

Customers can choose 10 items of food for £2.50 including fresh, chilled and frozen foods.

Salford Survivor Project helps and supports anyone who has been affected by domestic abuse or abuse within the family.

Their ethos is to empower people to recognise the issues that are negative in their lives and encourage them to make positive changes to help them lead fulfilling, health relationships.

TaxAid is a small independent charity that provides free, professional tax advice to those on low incomes. They are a safety net for those who cannot be assisted by HMRC because they need independent advice, or calculations, or they are in dispute with HMRC.

By low income they mean those on incomes of approximately £20,000 or less (before tax, individual income, with some flexibility to give one-off advice on tax debt where our income remit exceeded).

NESTAC - Ear For You Covid 19 support line for BAME communities

A third of Covid-19 patients are from Black and Asian Minority Ethnic population (BAME). ‘Ear for You’ Campaign aims to provide online counselling Covid-19 related advice and emotional support to the BAME communities across Greater Manchester, whilst working in partnership with local statutory and non-statutory agencies. Who can call, people from BAME communities who are recovering from Covid 19 who are self-isolating. Relatives and friends of clients suffering from Covid-19, Bereaved relatives and friends of a deceased Covid-19 person, BAME women and young girls who are victims or abuse and violence

FoodCycle Salford

Food Cycle Salford has recently opened it's Cook and Collect takeaway service from Langworthy Conerstone, where people can come and collect nutritious free meals. FoodCycle Salford can also offer weekly befriending calls via their Check in and Chat service.

The Salford Lifestyle Centre is a community hub for local residents.
